Our Facilities

Receiving Facility

The receiving facility of SII is capable of handling the loading and unloading of bulk and general cargoes from either domestic or international vessels. With 24/7 berthing operations, the company-owned port can accommodate vessels with a maximum draft of 12 meters, DWT of 50,000 and LOA of 120 meters. To provide better support during berthing and mooring of vessels; the facility has 2 breasting dolphins, 1 mooring dolphin, and 3 mooring buoy. Also available are two marine receiving lines which are both 8-inch in diameter and with an estimated length of 920 meters. It is both secured in a steel pipe bridge structure and directly connected to the storage facility of the terminal. To maintain its integrity and optimum efficiency during operations, each receiving line is equipped with a pigging system which utilizes nitrogen gas as the inert propellant.

Storage Facility

Efficient in storing and handling bulk flammable and combustible liquids, the current storage terminal of SII has an overall capacity of 12 million litres which is spread over 4 fixed-roof storage tanks. Each tank is built and designed to conform to the API 650 standard and NFPA 30 code. Specifically, all are equipped with automatic Inventory Tank Gauging system, monitored by a Hi-Hi level alarm system and fully protected by a deluge foam-water sprinkler system. As part of the permitted wastewater treatment process, an oil/water separator is made available together with two slop tanks having 40,000 litres capacity. All these are contained within a sufficiently impervious dike or bund wall which act as a barrier to prevent discharges in the event of spill due to overflow or structural failure of the tank.

Tank Truck Loading Facility

To meet demands for efficient delivery and distribution, SII provides a tank truck loading facility using top loading scheme comprises of 4 long reach loading arms with a ‘hold-open’ type valve and controlled by a complete metering system. It is mounted at the tank truck loading rack (TTLR) with 2 loading bays and can service 2 tank trucks simultaneously. In transferring the product from the storage tanks to the TTLR, 4 units of product pump with 15 hp and 20 hp capacities and 24 units of filter housing are present at the pump shed area. The complete loading system consists of 4 -meters and 4 input device which controls the loading operations from the pumps to the loading arms. It is an all-in-one field batch controller which regulates the amount of volume required, displays the corresponding flow rate and prints out the measurement results. The facility is also equipped with an electronic grounding system, deluge water sprinkler system and emergency shutdown button in compliance with corresponding NFPA codes and standards.

Truck Scale

Designed and built for accurate weighing of bulk cargoes on trucks, SII has a concrete deck truck scale reinforced with steel rods and ramps for accessing the driving surface. It adopts a high-precision weighing sensor capable of measuring a maximum of 60 tons. It is connected to a user-friendly digital weight indicator and a printer capable of printing tickets in multiple copies. The truck scale is calibrated and tested annually by an authorized servicing agent using DOST-certified test weights. Aside from the actual calibration, visual inspection of the scale, foundation, and surrounding area is conducted regularly as part of the preventive maintenance.

Inventory Management System

Covering the entire storage terminal, SII is equipped with a multi-protocol, real-time tank gauging and inventory control system. The tank inventory management system incorporates a full range of measurement devices such as radar level gauge to determine the critical level (high level and low level), product level with the corresponding net volume, flow rate during receiving and loading, and a resistance temperature detector to record the product temperature. It is presented on a standard display monitor giving a quick overview of the tank farm status and a reporting template of the inventory data obtained via automatic recording. The system is primarily focused on providing optimum efficiency by measuring and displaying real-time data and adequate safety measures on all storage tanks by enabling a high-level alarm to prevent potential overfill or spill incidents.

Fire Protection Facility

To effectively extinguish fires involving flammable and combustible liquids, SII adopted a fire protection system in compliance with local and international regulations such as PD 1185, OSHS Rule 1940 and NFPA 30. Maintaining the pressure of the hydrant line, vertical in-line jockey pump is connected to the horizontal split case fire pump capable of providing tolerable pressure to fully operate the water supply coming from the terminal’s 650 kilolitres water tank. Each tank has a foam top pourer device and a foam-water sprinkler system in addition to 2 units of fixed fire water monitor built at opposite sides of the tank farm. The terminal has 8 fire hydrant riser erected near 8 fire hose cabinet as well as fire extinguishers (dry chemical and CO2) distributed at key locations in the site. A conventional fire alarm system is also installed which is connected to a 10-zone fire alarm control panel capable of raising audible and visual alarms. All these are periodically inspected, maintained and tested to ensure reliable operation along with the regular competence training of personnel.

Warehouse

Renders handling and storage facilities for dry bulk and general cargoes coming from domestic and international vessels, SII has an open yard with an available area of 43,500 sq. m. Near the causeway connected to the port area, 2 warehouses (for roofing) are also situated with a total area of 10,800 sq. m. To ensure appropriate safety and security measures, the facility is equipped with CCTV surveillance cameras, adequate lighting especially in the cargo handling and storage areas, perimeter fencing to secure the area from unlawful entry, and 24/7 monitoring of trained security personnel.
